Dispatches from the front
Hey Cordkillers,
So a weird thing happened to me today that I really don't understand, hoping to get your insight. I was trying to watch a show that I had read about called The Tourist, which debuted in 2022. The article had mentioned that it premiered on HBO Max, so I assumed it would be on Max now. I use Apple TV, so when I searched for it, the Apple TV showed the show result but only gave me the option to open it in Amazon Prime. When I went to Prime it said I could only watch the show if I had a trial to Max...so I thought OK it really was on Max and Apple TV was maybe just wrong. When I went to my Max app the show was nowhere to be found (see screenshot of Max app search). So I checked Just Watch on my phone, and there's only one way to watch it: it shows a logo that appears to combine Max and Amazon Prime video, called Max Prime Video channels. I've never seen this before. When I tap on that logo on my phone it just opens Amazon Prime video and tells me I need a trial to Max. See screenshots of what I'm seeing.
What the heck is going on here? I have Max and I have Amazon Prime yet I still can't seem to watch this show. Is there a third exclusive streaming option here that requires Max, but specifically through Amazon Prime? As if streaming wasn't confusing enough. Appreciate any insight you have.
- Adam
