Why you won’t see any new TV rewatch podcasts during the Hollywood strike
FAQS for podcasters
SAG-AFTRA, Responding To Critics, Says Its Interim Agreements Are “Vital Part” Of Strike Strategy
- SAG-AFTRA is on strike and has many rules about what's allowed. Promoting things for example is not allowed. That's why actors aren't doing interviews about their upcoming movies.
- On a FAQ about the strike the union addressed podcasts.
- Obviously you can't go on a podcast to promote work that falls under a union contract. Podcasts aren't exempt from that. That also includes work from the past. So what about rewatch podcasts. You know. Like Spoilerin time.
- SAG-AFTRA clarified rules to the Verge on rewatch podcasts.
- “Rewatch Podcasts are considered promotional. Hosts should honor any pre-existing contracts but, if a contract is not involved, they should not promote struck work, past or current. Guests appearing on podcasts should not promote struck work under any circumstances.”
- Existing TV rewatch podcasts under a contract are a form of promoting struck work
- They can however continue to publish new episodes during the strike
- New contracts for rewatch podcasts and rewatch podcasts not under a SAG-AFTRA contract are off-limits.
- “You are free to continue hosting your podcast that is signed to one of our agreements, but if you are able to pivot your show away from the promotion of struck work, we strongly encourage you to do so."
- As for non-union podcasters? "Any non-member seeking future membership in SAG-AFTRA who performs covered work or services for a struck company during the strike will not be admitted into membership in SAG-AFTRA."

Dispatches from the front
Hey guys wanted to write a response to Brian's issues with Oppenheimer. I liked the movie. It's probably my 7th favourite Nolan movie, good but not up there with his best (and Nolan is my fav director). But as someone who middlingly liked it I'd like to give my thoughts to his criticisms.
About the whole white light thing. In the movie, the white flash was not seen in the practical explosion but was cleverly shown during the start by showing cuts of a very bright white light off people hiding or far off distance shots before the camera turning to the actual orange explosion. ...
I will agree the actual scene was underwhelming.... I think it was dissapointing because the footage felt zoomed in. The real Trinity footage was impressive not because of the explosion shape but the sense of scale you get while looking at the background.
I don't see the issue with the ""Won't someone tell the truth"" scene. Dude has been politically and unfairly railroaded and in an era where many people lost reputations/jobs even with weak links with communism - this feels exactly what someone would say if they're in the middle of such a sham trial, or hearing.
I recall Nolan has gone on the record to say that the color sections are told from Oppenheimer's subjective point of view, meaning it may not be totally accurate. The black/white sections are told from an objective view, meaning they are 100% trustworthy.
Anyways, I'm not trying to change Brian's mind, just bring some of my opinion on the stuff he's criticizing. When you don't like something, you don't like it. I love Nolan but I didn't like The Dark Knight (Begins and Rises were way way better for me) so even if I liked Oppenheimer better than Brian did, I can relate..

Spoilers!
Love your show! Keep up the awesome work! Long-time, first time...
I just finished Secret Invasion. I have to say that last episode REALLY brought down the entire series. It was laughable. It's a story that I would write in 7th grade. This series relegated "science" to be the equivalent of "magic." Got the DNA. We got all the powers. Because the battle field from which it was scraped from was such a pristine place.
The president being hurt and he was still in charge? It's great to see that the writers of the show know their literature but know nothing about how the chain of command works in the US. The VP would have been sworn in the moment that the attack happened.
Now, I know this story had to deviate from the source material... not sure if you knew this, but this is based off a comic book ;-) But what they came up with was just down-right silly.
Love the show!
Cheers,
- Marc
