Primary Target
TV’s Golden Era Proved Costly to Streamers

Studios that for years were able to splurge on content to feed viewers’ insatiable appetite for new shows and films now must pull back to make the math work. "

How to Watch
The Philippines Threatens to Join Vietnam in Banning ‘Barbie’
Netflix has removed a Chinese-made series called "Flight to You" from its service in Vietnam
- Vietnam will not allow Warner Brothers to show its forthcoming Barbie movie in the country because it shows China's version of a map of the South China Sea. Without getting too far into it, China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia and Brunei all have a dispute over where the borders are int he ocean. China uses a nine-dash line that makes most of the sea theirs. Everybody else uses a more complicated line that divides the sea up among them. The Philippines is also considering denying Warner Brothers permit to show the film there for the same reason. Editing the map to show the non-Chinese version, even outside China, could anger China which has approved the film for exhibition. Sony’s Uncharted, starring Tom Holland, was banned in both countries last year for the same reason. Barbie begins releasing internationally on July 19.

Dispatches from the front
What’s a show you’d want to watch but haven’t had a chance to watch? I think I’d watch The Sopranos as I’ve seen many episodes but not all. But not in any rush…

What’s a show you’ve seen before but want to watch again? For me, that would be The Wire.

And a divergent opinion, what is a show or movie broadly liked that you don't?  For me it is Always Sunny and any animated show and HATE The Big Lebowski.  Can't stand them.

There are three for you.
