‘You’: Penn Badgley Previews Fifth & Final Season Of Netflix Series In Teaser Trailer
‘Emily In Paris’: Lily Collins Teases Roman Holiday In Season 4 Of Netflix Series
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ‘Fubar’ Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix
- OK let's talk about this strategy of having a "festival" to announce stuff. This works for big events like Comic-Con because it's a special event. It works for companies like Samsung and Apple because they announce a few things at a Time. I don't think it works for Netflix. It's not special enough to warrant Comic-Con attention and they haven't restricted how many things they show. But maybe that's because I cover it. Brian, do you think the fans of Netflix like this or is there some other way Netflix benefits that I haven't mentioned?

How to Watch
Netflix reportedly plans first live sports event with celebrities playing golf
Netflix to Enter Live-Streamed Sports With Celebrity Golf Event
Netflix Explores Investing in Sports Leagues, Bidding on Streaming Rights
- The Wall Street Journal's sources say Netflix is in talks to live-stream its first sporting event. Golf. Played by Formula 1 race car drivers. In Las Vegas.
- Let's back up.
- Netflix has a couple successful sports documentary series. Drive to Survive about Formula 1 racing and Full Swing, which follows pro golfers.
- Netflix is also trying out live events. There was the successful streaming of Chris Rock's comedy show in Baltimore. And the totally not successful streaming of the reunion episode of Love Is Blind. And Netflix is contracted to stream the SAG Awards.
- A lot of folks have speculated that Netflix might get into sports, the way Apple TV, Peacock and Amazon have. But live sports rights are insanely expensive and Netflix has said it would want more control if it's going to spend that much.
- So taking two sports it has a relationship with and creating a new event is a very cautious way of dipping the toe into live sports.
- Netflix has supposedly tried to get rights to tennis and cycling and even buying a league like the World Surf League.
- ESPN reportedly outbid Netflix for Formula 1 last year.

Dispatches from the front
I have been a subscriber of Netflix since 2011 never stopping. While there had been months I hadn’t used it, I kept it around at the Premium tier due to people outside my house using it. Since that’s no longer an option I’ve canceled (and did so immediately after change went into affect) so some people like me still have a membership that just hadn’t ran out yet. I have a girlfriend that had been doing the same thing who also canceled. Netflix content shows up in my Plex feed anyway (due to friends) so see ya Netflix!

Separately I’d been a subscriber to Cordkillers since the beginning but just noticed they haven’t been charging me since late 2022. I had been paying $2 a month and since I was still getting emails of early access presumed even after you said something last year it was still charging me. I can’t seem to pay for the $1 an episode tier if I try to subscribe. Help, how do I give you money!?"

Tom, Brian, and Bryce,
The Cord cutting revolution is over. (Using the American Revolution as an analogy) Now the time of Confederation begins. Cordkillers : Confederation Make the stingers be about rebuilding just like Americans after the 1776 revolution. Often referred to as the Confederation period. Just some feedback from one of your bosses.

It seems like you are walking right by "The Leftovers".   Since the next couple of years is going to be a lot of consolidation there will be a lot of where did all the services go?

- Sean

Hi gents - i'm 100% behind the Streaming Survivors chapter of the show.  my brain immediately went to one of the sections being "Shiny and Chrome."
I will continue to witness you in this new era!

ride forever,

- Andy

Hey Brian, Bryce, Tom, and Guest!

I just wanted to write about a Streaming Service I've been watching a lot recently called Dropout. I didn't know about this service until very recently when I kept getting recommended clips for a show of theirs called Game Changer on YouTube.

At $50 for a year, I think I got my money's worth in about a month. Watching more content there than I did on MAX or Netflix. The service is by some of the CollegeHumor team, and has shows ranging from the aforementioned Game Changer (a comedy-like game show) to Dimension 20 (along-format D&D series).

I think that while we're in the beginning stages of consolidation of the big streaming platforms, Niche and inexpensive services like this one will end up thriving in the streaming market.

Thanks as always,

- Alex
