With special guest Allison Sheridan ( https://podfeet.com/ ).

Gen Z Teens Want Less Sex on Screen, According to New UCLA Study
Teens & Screens
- I tell you. You bring back a bunch of teen romances to watch and the kids just complain. Here's what I'm talking about.
- A team at UCLA's Center for Scholars and Storytellers surveyed 1500 people between the ages of 10 and 24, 100 people in each age bracket. Only those between age 13 and 24 were asked about sexy content though.
- And of those kids, 51.5% said they would like to see more content depicting friendships and platonic relationships.
- 47.5% reported that sex is not necessary to the majority of TV show and movie plots.
- 44.3% of youth felt that “romance in media is overused.”
- 39% would like to see more depictions of aromantic and/or asexual characters.
- 56% of adolescents 10-24 prefer original content over franchises and remakes
- Twice as many adolescents prefer binge releases over weekly drops

‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ Intermission Imposed By Handful Of Theaters Spurs Intervention
- Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is playing in theaters before it comes to Apple TV+. It's 3 hours and 26 minutes long. A few theaters around the world, including one in Colorado, decided their patrons needed a break, so they instituted an intermission. The studio says that's a violation of their agreements and has put a stop to it. Further, editor Thelma Schoonmaker objected to intermissions and Scorsese himself has said, “People say it’s three hours, but come on, you can sit in front of the TV and watch something for five hours. Also, there are many people who watch theatre for three and a half hours. There are real actors on stage — you can’t get up and walk around. You give it that respect; give cinema some respect.”

‘The Social Network’ Sequel Not Ruled Out By Director David Fincher, But It’s “A Can Of Worms”
- David Fincher told The Guardian that he's considered making a sequel to The Social Network, the movie about Mark Zuckerberg and the founding of Facebook. Fincher said “Aaron [Sorkin, The Social Network’s screenwriter] and I have talked about it, but, um… that’s a can of worms.” In 2021 Sorkin said ”I think what has been going on with Facebook these last few years is a story very much worth telling, and there is a way to tell it as a follow up to The Social Network, and that’s as much as I know.”

‘The Crown’ Season 6 Trailer Focuses on Princess Diana Tragedy

Disney’s Live-Action ‘Snow White’ Delays to 2025, Jonathan Majors’ ‘Magazine Dreams’ Pulled Off Calendar
‘Aquaman 2’ Bumped Two Days, Robert De Niro’s ‘Wise Guys’ Renamed ‘Alto Knights’ in Move to November 2024
- The actor's strike seems like it's close to resolving, and who knows, may be resolved by the time you hear this. But our job is to keep you up to date on the effects, so here are a few dates that have been changed for movies. Disney delayed the live action version of Snow White from March 2024 to March 21st, 2025. SciFi animation Elio also gets pushed off from March 2024 to June 13, 2025. And Disney removed Magazine Dreams from its calendar. It was supposed to premiere December 8th but stars Jonathan Majors who is accused of assault and aggravated harassment. Majors has pleaded not guilty. ...Warner Brothers moved Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom from December 20th to December 22nd. In other words from Wednesday to Friday. And Wise Guys starring Robert De Niro has been renamed Alto Knights and moved from November 2024 to February 2nd 2024.

Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and Apple News+ Receiving Price Increases
- Apple followed the trend of other streaming services, eggs and gasoline by raising prices for its Apple TV+ service. In the US, Apple TV+ rises from $6.99 a month to $9.99 a month. Apple also raised the prices of Apple News, Apple Arcade and its Apple One bundles. News subscribers pay the new rate now, existing subscribers see the price increase in the next 30 days on their renewal date.

Apple reportedly plans to totally redesign its TV app
- Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says Apple plans to redesign its Apple TV app as part of a tvOS update in December. The new Apple TV app will add a left-side navigation for video categories and become the sole home for all your video, rented, purchased or streamed. The separate Movies and TV Shows apps on tvOS will be removed as will video sections on other mobile Apple apps.

Lakers Launch Low Cost, Direct-To-Consumer Streaming Service Offering Team’s Games, Player Interviews & Pre- & Post-Game Coverage|
- Spectrum SportsNet is a channel only available on Cable TV and DirecTV Stream in the LA area (and parts of Nevada and Hawaii). It's the channel that carries the LA Lakers basketball games. So DirecTV Stream was your only option if you didn't want to get cable. Well that just changed in an interesting way. You can subscribe to the Lakers games through SpectrumSportsNet+, but that service is only available in the NBA app or at NBA.com. It costs $20 a month or $180 for the season. What's intriguing is that the NBA is managing this access, not Charter which owns Spectrum Sportsnet.

Amazon Cruises Past Q3 Estimates, Touts 25% Viewership Gain For ‘Thursday Night Football’
- Amazon has Thursday Night Football as an exclusive this season for the first time. And reported viewership rose 25% over last year (when it simulcast the broadcast with others). This helped boost Amazon's advertising revenue by 26%. Amazon plans to bring ads to Prime Video too, so expect that ad revenue number to keep rising.

Comcast Shrugs Off Domestic Ad Dip To Top Wall Street Q3 Estimates; Peacock Hits 28M Paid Subscribers
- Comcast saw its ad revenue fall 8% on the year. But Pecock raised subscribers 4 million to reach 28 million. Peacock revenue rose 64% on the year as well. And just for the record, Comcast's cable Pay TV business lost 490,000 subscribers to fall to 14.5 million.

Amazon will now let you access Crunchyroll’s anime library right from Prime Video
- Crunchyroll is now available as a channel add-on for Amazon Prime Video at $7.99 a month. A $9.99 a month Mega Fan tier lets you download shows for offline viewing.

Chatter
Reverse Chatter: Allison has a question for the audience

Last time I was on the show, I talked about how awesome Channels is, and how we use our Synology NAS as our DVR. Unfortunately, NBC changed something and it broke the connection through TVEverywhere and for the past year, we’ve had to use the YouTubeTV interface for all NBC products (like MSNBC). We hate the scrubber on YouTubeTV with the passion of 7 fiery suns. If there’s a better service than YouTubeTV for scrubbing I’d be interested!

Hey Tom, Brian, and Bryce

I'm a NY Giants fan living in CT, which means despite subscribing to streaming services (Peacock and Paramount+) and authentication for Fox and ESPN so I thought I was set for watching the only live TV that I'm interested in on Sundays, but noooooo that wasn't the case.

Week 7 was Washington Commanders at Giants both being NFC east teams usually would be on Fox but it wasn't for some reason it was on CBS, which usually carries AFC games and since it's New England Paramount+ is going to show Patriots if they are playing the 1 o'clock game which they were. No means to watch the game last week.

Week 8 was Jets vs Giants with it technically being a Giants home game (they share a stadium), again it's on CBS and what's shown on P+ is the Patriots game but that ends early and they start showing the end of the Giants-Jets game. And then it goes into overtime. And then P+ cuts it off to show the 49ers-Bengals which is the later game with no means of showing the nail biter of the game I actually wanted to watch.

There's not a technical barrier to stream the game that is geo-located to be a local game for this media market (both Boston and New York teams in baseball and football are considered in-market games) yet I keep missing out on watching the Giants.

Hey Cordkillers,
In a recent episode, you talked about how Crunchyroll was launching a FAST channel on various platforms. This was generally seen as a positive thing, and while it probably is, I wanted to add some context.

Prior to last May (see article below), most of the content on Crunchyroll itself was available for free on its own website/apps with ads. Generally, most shows were available this way, but with new episodes delayed 1 week for non-paying subscribers, and a select few shows locked entirely behind the paywall. Since last May, they started restricting basically all new content to paying subscribers only.

So, while I agree their move to FAST is hopefully a good thing, it's a bit more of a return to their old model than a radical new shift. In my experience, their apps and ad experience left a lot to be desired (lag/slowness/repeated ads/etc), so maybe taking advantage of existing FAST platforms will help with that.

Thanks for the show,
