‘Loki’ Season 2 Debuts With Record 3-Day Audience For Disney+
- "Loki's season 2 debut reached 10.9 million global views in its first three days. That's the second most watched premier of the year for Disney+ behind the Mandalorian debut in March. Disney defines a view as the total number of minutes streamed by all viewers divided by the total run time of the episode.
- Disney last released viewership data for Ahsoka, but used a five-day window.
- So a few points worth noting
- 1. People want Loki more than they want many other D+ originals these days. Why?
- 2. Numbers are all over the place at the whims of whether services want to release them and how they want to couch them.
- 3. A view is in the eye of the streaming service's executives. What should a view be?"

Marvel’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ To Undergo Creative Overhaul With New Head Writers
- Possibly related - since it's about one of Disney+'s Marvel TV shows. Daredevil: Born Again with Charlie Cox reprising his role from the Netflix series - is changing out its writers and directors. Head writers Chris Old and Matt Corman keep their EP credits but will not write the show. Fewer than half the 18 episodes were shot. Deadline says the show will keep some of that but shift from a procedural to a serialized show.
- Also Deadline notes "other Marvel series were shifting their premiere dates, read Hawkeye spinoff Echo is eyeing a January debut (instead of November), animated series X-Men ’97 will go early next year, while WandaVision spinoff Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, starring Kathryn Hahn in the title role, is looking at a drop date leading up to Halloween next year. "

Jerry Seinfeld hinted that something is in the works regarding the ending of Seinfeld
- At a standup performance in Boston Jerry Seinfeld hinted that there might be more Seinfeld TV to be made. The show ended in May 1998. There was a fun storyline on Curb Your Enthusiasm where Larry David tried to put together a reunion episode. But in the standup routine in Boston Seinfeld said "I have a little secret for you about the ending. But I can't really tell it. Because it is a secret. Her's what I'll tell you. OK. But you can't tell anybody. Something is going to happen that has to do with that ending. It hasn't happened yet. And just what you are thinking about, Larry and I have also been thinking about. So, you'll see."

‘Kelce’ Becomes Prime Video’s Most-Watched Documentary Film Ever In U.S.
- Amazon released a documentary September 12, called Kelce about Jason and Travis Kelce, two NFL players who faced off against each other in Super Bowl 57. It has become the most watched documentary ever on Prime Video in the US. Travis Kelce is rumored to have been dating Taylor Swift, who came to his games a few times recently causing those games to be the highest rated football games since the Super Bowl.

Are Beyoncé’s and Taylor Swift’s Concert Films Eligible for the Oscars?
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour tops box office with $128M, shatters global record for a concert film
- Beyonce and Taylor Swift both have concert films coming to theaters and both are setting records for sales. Taylor Swift's Eras movie made $128 million worldwide, and $96 million domestic to set new records for concert films. Neither of them will be eligible for an Oscar. That's because the documentary rules say “Works that are essentially promotional or instructional are not eligible, nor are works that are essentially unfiltered records of performances.” Hamilton also did not qualify since it was a filmed version of an actual Broadway production.

Netflix to Open Stores Where Fans Can Play, Shop and Eat in 2025
- Netflix is getting into restaurants and retail. Netflix House is the name for a series of venues that will let you shop for Netflix show-related merch, eat some cooking show-themed food and possibly catch some live events inspired by shows. It's like Planet Hollywood for Netflix. Bloomberg says Netflix management views the venture as promotional, not a source of revenue.
- The first two Netflix House locations will open in the US in 2025, with plans to open around the world.

YouTube passes Netflix as top video source for teens
- In its latest survey of US High-School-aged teens, bank Piper Sandler found that YouTube has passed Netflix for time spent watching. Teens said they spent 29.1% of their daily video time on YouTube and 28.7% on Netflix. Hulu was in third place at 7%. Disney+ and Prime Video gained while Hulu, Max and Cable declined.

Best Buy to End DVD, Blu-ray Disc Sales
- Most of the headlines on this say DVDs but I think it's more significant that Best Buy is going to stop selling Blu-rays. And that's both in store and online, starting early next year. Wal-mart, Amazon, Target and your local truck stop will continue to stock them for now. And Redbox will continue to rent them now that Netflix doesn't. This is a big milestone on the way to the demise of physical media. Since you can still buy cassettes, and vinyl usage has been rising, I wouldn't count either DVDs or Blu-ray Discs out entirely. But they are definitely firmly in the niche category now.

NFL Sunday Ticket Draws an Estimated 1.3 Million Fans to YouTube
NFL says Sunday Ticket has more subscribers on YouTube this year than DirecTV last year
- NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube has drawn about 1.3 million fans. That's already more than DirecTV's 1.2 million it had last year. About 41% of Sunday Ticket subscribers who purchased the package as an add-on to their YouTubeTV subscription are new YouTube TV subscribers.

Chatter
I reckon(ing) I have a common problem that many deal with, which is keeping track of everything I'm watching. I have taken your previous recommendations and I'm using an Apple TV because of all the devices I have tried It seems to do the best job at tracking the shows I'm watching and reminding me when new episodes are available. However it doesn't do this for certain services, like Paramount Plus and Netflix, which is quite frustrating, and I am wondering if you can recap for us why some services don't integrate, and if there is any light at the end of the tunnel? I was thinking maybe they think we will find new content or stay longer if we open the app directly and see all the stuff on the landing page?  But in reality, I often completely forget about Netflix due to my reliance on Apple TV to tell me what I'm watching. So for me, not integrating is having the opposite effect,  where we rarely open it, and once I had that realization, I canceled it (for now at least). I can only assume they have some metrics that are feeding into their decision, but I can't quite figure out what they might be... If almost everyone else is willing to integrate, there must be some benefits to doing so. Hoping you can shed some light. Thanks!

So I just discovered that the last half of the final season of Doom Patrol is starting to come out beginning October 12th  for the last 6 episodes. It’s on Max. The fourth season started almost a year ago last December but was cancelled in January.

Hey CKRs (CordKiller Reckoners)!  My house is one of those Discovery Plus subscribers. With everything increasing in price, we have been holding on to that one and looking at canceling others (like Netflix for instance if they increase again). We did not see the benefits of Max as we never really watched anything on HBO (on cable or since). There just weren't enough things we were interested in enough to justify the price increase.
