Netflix Execs Say Advertising Tier Is Off To “Solid” Start; Viewing Is On Par With Ad-Free Level, Will Account For 10% Of Company Revenue In Coming Years
- It was a good quarter to go out on. Analysts had expected a rise of 4.57 million subscribers and Netflix almost doubled that, adding 7.66 million in Q4 to reach 230.75 million total subscribers. Every market grew. The US and Canada grew the least at 910,000 subscribers, and Europe and the Middle East grew the most with 3,200,000 new subs. The company met analyst revenue estimates with $7.85 billion in Q4, but missed on earnings.

Netflix’s paid password sharing to roll out ‘more broadly’ in the coming months
- The company also followed up on its plans to add a path to paid sharing of accounts, saying those methods will roll out "more broadly" “later in Q1’23”. Netflix's terms of service have always prohibited sharing the account outside of the household, but Netflix has been increasing its methods of detection while testing a way to pay extra to add an out-of-household account. Netflix also plans to offer a way to keep your profile data when you start a new account of your own, making it easier to switch from a shared account.

Dispatches from the front
Hi Bryce,Brian,Tom,and guest

Briefly,I never successfully played the game on my PS3. I only ever played the first 10 minutes, and never took the time or effort to keep going. Per Brian's advice in the past, I watched a 4.5 hour video of the game remastered on Youtube. I recently did this as a Youtube Premium subscriber over this weekend. I started on Friday. I finished it onSunday. I treated the video as episodic television instead of binging it all at once.

Overall, I finally get why this game resonated with so many over the last 10 years. I was okay with the changes made to the story for episode 1 of the live series. The 2nd episode disappointed me with the changes. And I felt the cliffhanger pacing at the end was too fast with 7 episodes to go. I'll keep watching along with Cordkillers. And I look forward to what everyone else has to say on episode 2 and the eventual result of the series.
