Hey gang,
I just wanted to chime in on the merger “fallout” and add that subscribers will be paying the same price (potentially more) for less content. Sure, we’ll get more shows from Discovery but we’re still paying for less content overall. I haven’t heard about any cancellations on Discovery’s side but my gut says most people care less about that content than HBO’s. This makes me glad that HBO Max is included (for now) with my ATT internet. As a life long DC fan, I would have EASILY paid for Max if I wasn’t getting it for free. Now, I’m not so sure. I hope they figure this out because it looks ugly to the rest of us. You can’t even BUY the shows elsewhere so they don’t have to pay the creators residuals. That was my plan for Close Enough, Infinity Train and Summer Camp Island as I watch the latter two with my kids.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this and sorry if this is long.
Love y’all! Toodles!
- E. James
Hi everybody,
I just had some quick feedback on episode 421 regarding HBO Max cutting back on stuff that was less frequently, if ever, watched.
I think the bigger problem with HBO Max cutting programming (both stuff that’s already done and stuff that’s in production) is adding to the uncertainty of the platform. Originally when I signed up, HBO Max was billed as ‘everything I could want from Warner & HBO with massive back catalogs of programming’. With that I jumped on the discount to sign up for a year, prepaying and giving WarnerMedia that guaranteed customer and income. With the latest news and my subscription coming up for renewal at the end of the month I’ve already switched to month-to-month since I just don’t have the faith in the platform I did a year ago, I’m not sure if in 3 to 6 months the shows I watch now will still be there or what’ll happen. Granted if I do stay for 12 months I’m giving WarnerMedia a bit more money but I can also just leave next month pretty easily which probably isn’t what they want. I’m guessing I’m not alone in that either.
Just my thoughts, keep up the great work!
- Chad
