How to Watch
Next 'Doctor Who': Could Matt Berry or Michaela Coel Get the Role?
- Whether you watch Doctor Who or not your online neighbors will be screaming loudly about who the next Who should be now that it's official that Jodie Whitaker will be leaving the role.|
- Variety has an overview of the top candidates, at least according to the internet. Let's bat them about and say how excited or not you'd be to see the following people take control of the Tardis.
- Michaela Coel
- She is the creator dnd star of "I May Destroy You" which received widespread acclaim for its depiction of a writer in the public eye rebuilding her life after being raped. So... not exactly a similar series to Doctor Who. She's also cast in the next Black Panther movie. But Coel has a good relationship with the BBC and the bookies give her 7-1 odds.
- Richard Ayoade
- Moss from the IT Crowd and so many more memorable characters. He's also a director, so maybe he can replace Chibnall too?
- Michael Sheen
- From Good Omens and more?
- Jessica Raine
- Star of Call the Midwife and previous guest star on Doctor Who, which didn't stop them casting Peter Capaldi.
- Chance Perdomo
- Currently in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
- T'Nia Miller
- She was Mrs. Grose in the Haunting of Bly Manor. She said she'd want her dog to be cast as her companion if she ever played Doctor who.
- David Harewood
Supergirl's Martian, Homeland appearances and previous Doctor Who guest star.
- Matt Berry
- Another actor on good terms with the BBC and is most famous on this show for playing Steven Toast in Toast of London and the forthcoming Toast of Tinseltown.

AMC Entertainment In Deal With Warner Bros For 45-Day Theatrical Window In 2022
-Suicide Squad took in $35 million worldwide, which is on par with non-Pandemic release Birds of Brey's $36.6 million (adjusted) Domestically Suicide Squad made $72.2 million. But with delta variants sending some folks back inside, and HBO Max not asking for any extra money to watch it if you already subscribed, it's difficult to tell how much of this is day and date and how much is pandemic related. And besides, AMC Entertainment announced a deal for a 45-day theatrical window for Warner Brothers movie releases. Warner had already reached that same deal with Regal. So it's going to be 45 days no matter what you think.
- So instead of hashing that old debate again, What did we think? We all had our Eyes On Suicide Squad

Dispatches from the Front
Hello CK team (and possible guest),

Your resident Doctor Who lore nerd here to answer your question on the regeneration limits.

Per the original lore, and with the “War Doctor”, the Matt Smith doctor, should have been the last regeneration. (This was during a massive “all doctor” team up special where they also “saved Gallifrey”… loads happened) Anyway, on the last special with Matt Smith, he grew old and prepared to die, as the last of that line… at the last moment, the crack in the wall (long-standing boogeyman of his tenure) was revealed to be a door to Gallifrey and the world of Gallifrey provided him with a new life (and another round of regenerations.)

He regenerated to the Peter Capaldi Doctor… proving the new reset.

In the Jodie Whittaker Doctor’s most recent season, the Master revealed that the Time Lords’ regeneration was not a natural occurrence among the Gallifreyan people. It was something that their scientists spliced into their being from the Timeless Child… who we learn is the earliest known version of the Doctor. Something which was removed from her memory.

Long story, long… the series has retconned the 13 regeneration limit twice in three doctors.

Hope that helps..

Your boss,

- Kaevo

Guys, I wrote to you ten years ago (when you were still just the Framerate show). At the time, I had just turned 40 and hadn't seen any of the Star Wars movies. I wanted your opinion on which order to watch them. Brian's desire (for science) was that I should start with the Phantom Menace and watch them in "chronological" order.
Shortly thereafter, I sat down to watch the Phantom Menace. My experience was ... disappointing ... to say the least. I was actually so bored and irritated I didn't finish the film. I'm sorry Brian, I wasn't strong enough.

With my recent 50th birthday, I'm making a pledge to break out the old VHS tapes and give the original trilogy a chance. Maybe this old, cold heart can identify with something that should have been part of my childhood all along.

(old email from 2011):

Hello, gents. I am a life-long nerd, born in 1971, and as such I was the perfect 6-year-old target for Star Wars when it was released to theatres. I should be the prototypical Star Wars fan.

However, I have never seen *any* of the Star Wars movies.....So now I find myself a 40 year old Star Wars virgin. Other than the obvious parts (Vader is Luke's father, Jar-Jar sucks), I really don't know much of anything about the movies, so this should be a largely unspoiled experience. How do you recommend I watch these films? I can borrow a recent DVD collection of all six movies. Do I watch in theatrical order (IV, V, VI, I, II, III), or chronological order (I, II, III, IV, V, VI). Or do I bust out my VHS player and just watch the first trilogy from an original-release box set that I picked up at a consignment store, and forget about anything that came after? Opinions, please!

- Darren
