Dispatches from the Front
Hi Tom, Brian and Bryce,
You keep talking about the Friends reunion, so I thought I'd share some trivia you might be interested in.
My son used to work at the Lego store. He told me the Friends Central Perk Lego set, that went on sale in 2019, set records for how fast it sold out. Lego was so impressed by its popularity that they made another set that just came out June 1st. That one has the kitchens and living rooms of both apartments and the hallway in between. It's bigger and pricier than the first one and I don't have any sales data except that it's practically sold out on Amazon.
I don't know what this says about our culture but it's clear Friends has a massive Fandom.
Love the show!
Your boss,
- Beelissa
Everyone is making a big deal about James Bond films in the MGM-Amazon deal, but no one is mentioning the classic MGM musicals.
Is that because they are not part of the deal? I remember that Turner bought those rights years ago. Are they all on HBO Max? Is that where Turner stuff ended up, or are they Paramount+?
It is hard to keep track.
Bye-bye,
- John
Do you all know the current situation with Apple TV+ pricing? I have bought a few Apple products over the last year and I have no idea when they will start charging me money for Apple TV+. Is it still just free for device purchasers? Are they going to start asking me for money right before Ted Lasso comes back?
